Club Statement: Luqman Hakim Will Leave Club To K.V. Kortrijk

At FA Selangor, we understand the importance of nurturing talents for Malaysian football. We strive to provide the opportunities necessary to help elevate these young players’ careers. The state has witnessed the emergence of various success stories that also attests to the club’s commitment to this cause.

Unearthing the potential these players possess requires not only physical training to polish skill and ability on the pitch. We understand that values in life also play a pivotal role in shaping their maturity and character off the pitch.

Therefore, with regards to Luqman Hakim Shamsudin’s current situation, the club hereby officially confirms that an agreement has been reached between FA Selangor and K.V. Kortrijk for the transfer of Luqman Hakim from Selangor.

Luqman will be flying to Belgium to join the club as soon as all the documentation has been processed and cleared. We believe exposure beyond Malaysia is what he personally needs currently to advance to the next stage of his professional career.

Luqman who is 18 years old this year, was named one of the country"s biggest talents by Goal Malaysia in its NxGn 2020 list. Luqman became the AFC U-16 championship’s top scorer despite playing only two matches in the competition. Luqman was instrumental in helping Malaysia"s youth squad impress at the 2019 AFF U-19 Youth Championship finals.

We, at FA Selangor would like to wish Luqman all the best. We sincerely hope that this move will not only benefit him as an individual but also, in the long run, help the local footballing industry progress further. We hope this would open the door to more young talents going abroad.

All the best Luqman!
